Factors Effecting the Female Libido


Complex, mysterious and enigmatic: words used to describe women in general can just as easily describe the female libido. Unlike their male counterparts, a woman’s libido is incredibly multifaceted and continually evolving. The dynamics behind a woman’s sexual drive are ephemeral and often intangible; understanding them takes more than just a brief glance through a textbook.

Hormones, physical health, self perception and lifestyle circumstances all come together and play a part in the performance of a woman’s libido. Because all of these different, seemingly unrelated things have an impact on a woman’s sexual drive, it is sometimes difficult for a woman to even begin pinpointing what is happening when she experiences problems with her libido.

To gain a greater understanding into her sexual health and well being, a woman must first get in touch with her innermost self. Before a woman can hope to even begin grasping the many phenomena that play a part in her complex libido, she must learn to truly love and appreciate her body. The ability to be “comfortable in your own skin” is imperative for women who seek to truly be masters of their sexual destiny.

Gaining a better understanding of one’s body is similar to designing a building: the foundation – what goes into it – must be strong. Before a woman can truly love and understand herself and her body, she must learn to nurture it properly. Good nutrition is the first step toward achieving this goal. When the body receives the nourishment it needs, it is better able to perform at peak ability; everything else stems from that.

Once a woman is providing her body with the right balance of vitamins and minerals and is hydrating it properly, she must then make sure to give it the right kind of physical maintenance. When it comes to the female libido, a body at rest is a body that isn’t going to function properly. Women must make sure to exercise on a daily basis to keep their bodies working properly; when exercise falls by the wayside, the emotions and hormones that are critical to female sexual health get completely out of whack.

When the body is being treated with the reverence that it deserves, a woman’s libido will begin performing much more optimally. Physical health and well being are only a part of the puzzle, though. Mental health is incredibly vital to female sexual health. Nourishing and taking care of her frame of mind is critical for every woman; doing so is easier said than done, though.

Women wear many different hats during a typical day, and juggle a huge variety of roles. Mother, wife, daughter, coworker, sibling, caretaker, friend… the shifting dynamic of a woman’s daily life can wreak havoc on her state of mind. All too often, a woman allows these things to consume her and they begin adversely affecting her sexual well being. For mental health’s sake, women need to find ways to rest their minds; even something simple like a quiet stroll around the neighborhood or a few hours at the spa can work wonders in this department.

Enigmatic as it is, the female libido can be reckoned with. By getting in touch with their bodies, women can take control of their sex drives and lead healthier, happier lives. There’s no magic cure-ll to female sexual health; with a little patience and understanding, though, women can learn to embrace their bodies and take charge of their libidos.
